The Mustard Seed Mall
A new chapter for a longtime Oxford vendor mall blends tradition, teamwork, and plans for growth under new resident owner Mandi Barrett.
For more than three decades, The Mustard Seed Mall has been part of Oxford’s retail landscape. In August 2025, Ole Miss graduate Mandi Barrett became its new owner, continuing a local story while shaping a new chapter.
“I bought the business from the previous owner in August of 2025,” Mandi said. “The Mustard Seed has been in Oxford for over 30 years.” The store began in the early 1990s on University Avenue and grew into what it is today: a vendor mall offering furniture, clothing, home décor, antiques, gifts, and more.
Mandi described the culture as the foundation of the business. “We have created a wonderful environment of amazing people who support each other and work together for a common goal,” she said. “From the employees to the vendors and even customers, we all love being at the store and being together.” With 10 employees and a growing vendor base, she added, “We are just getting started, too!”
Recent changes focused on expanding the experience. The store now offers fresh baked cookies on game days and holidays. “We are finishing an expansion, adding more vendors and providing even more of a leisurely walk through our great store.”
As a Wellsgate resident and Oxford local, Mandi said her reason for community outreach is personal: “I want to do all I can to support this amazing place we all love.”
