For Shelby and Austin Terrell, home has always had a familiar feeling. Both grew up in McComb, Mississippi, where they were high school sweethearts. They attended Ole Miss and got married in Oxford nine years ago. Today, they are raising their family in Wellsgate, where they have lived since August 2024. “Oxford has always felt like home to us,” Shelby said.

Shelby and Austin are parents to Frances Elaine, known as Frannie, and Whit Wallace. Frannie is three years old and recently started 3K at OECC. She has plenty of favorite activities, including playing dress up, tennis, swimming, swinging, jumping on the trampoline and ballet. Frannie also enjoys her newest role: being a big sister. This fall, newest addition Whit Wallace will have his own way of joining in on a family tradition. “He’s ready to cheer on the Rebels from his bouncer!”

Life in Wellsgate gives the family plenty of ways to enjoy their community together. “We love living close to friends and family, going on daily golf cart rides, and taking strolls and/or bike rides around our safe community,” Shelby said. Austin’s parents, Rhonda and Ronnie Terrell, live in Stonebridge, giving the grandparents an easy connection to the family.

After growing up in McComb, attending Ole Miss, marrying in Oxford and now raising their children here, the Terrells have built their life around a place that has long felt familiar. Wellsgate is now part of that story, giving Shelby and Austin a community where they can watch their family grow, enjoy time together and make the most of the place they call home.
