Goal Setting in 2025
Don’t set it and forget it. New Year’s Resolutions is one of our most time-honored traditions as we enter into a new year. Setting goals is important and keeping those resolutions alive requires a commitment to habit change. Whether it's increasing health, taking up a new hobby, building a new career, setting goals lets us create our future. Creating new small habits to support our goals helps us grow and expand, pushing ourselves to transform in new ways. We want to establish habits that support the overall goals and track progress as we go.
James Clear, the author of Atomic Habits, writes about the concept of "habit graduation" to describe the spirit of continuous improvement that moves us towards our goals.
Not only do we need to progress in our habits, but transitioning a habit to its next level helps keep our wellness journeys interesting.
When we keep the wellness journey interesting it helps maintain the momentum and increases the likelihood of us achieving the goals we set for ourselves. The goal is to not make a long list of resolutions but to set S.M.A.R.T (Specific, Measureable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) goals that will help you establish new habits and sustainable the change you want to see in your life.
