The founder of The Beauty Lounge, Elizabeth “Lizette” James, has always been passionate about helping people feel their best. After graduating from Seminole High School in St. Petersburg, Florida, she began her nursing journey at St. Petersburg College, followed by Tennessee Tech, and earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from the University of South Florida. She went on to complete her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) at Emory University, where she earned dual certifications in Nurse Midwifery and Family Nurse Practice.

Lizette began her career as a Certified Nurse Midwife—her first love in healthcare—but a personal experience with aesthetic treatments in 2010 sparked a new passion. After receiving preventative care from a plastic surgeon, she had a defining moment: “I can do this.” She soon enrolled in her first aesthetics course, marking the beginning of a transformative chapter in her professional life.

By 2015, Lizette was working full-time as an Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner. Though she initially struggled with the shift from traditional healthcare, she quickly came to appreciate the deep emotional and psychological impact of aesthetic care. She realized that when people feel good about how they look, they often make healthier choices and care for themselves in more holistic ways—physically, mentally, and emotionally.

After nearly a decade of working in the field and building a loyal patient base, Lizette made the leap to entrepreneurship in 2024. With the support of her sister—who also works in the aesthetics industry—and the encouragement of friends and family, she opened the second location of The Beauty Lounge in Sarasota. Her mission: to create a space where clients could feel confident, cared for, and empowered through safe, expert-led aesthetic services.

The aesthetic medicine industry has evolved rapidly, and Lizette is committed to evolving with it. She regularly invests in advanced training and continued education, studying facial anatomy, the rheology of dermal fillers, and the mechanisms of biostimulatory injections. This commitment ensures that every procedure performed at The Beauty Lounge is not only safe but also artfully tailored to the individual, producing natural, beautiful results.

Originally from St. Petersburg, Lizette lived for many years in the suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia, where she raised her three children. After completing graduate school, she moved to Sarasota and began a new chapter of her life. Today, she treasures time spent with her children and grandchildren and enjoys boat days on Sarasota Bay—often followed by oysters at favorite local spots like SKOB, Walt’s Fish Market, and Crab & Fin.

Lizette credits her success to the strong work ethic instilled in her by her parents, the support of her sisters, and the grace and guidance of God. She is especially grateful to the Sarasota friends who offered their help and encouragement as she opened her business.

Although The Beauty Lounge is a newer addition to the area, Lizette is committed to being an active part of the local community. She has been a long-time attendee of Wine, Women & Shoes and was proud to donate to their auction this year in support of the Forty Carrots Foundation. She looks forward to finding more ways to give back and stay connected.
