Music Compound
Teaches More Than Notes

Are you raising this generation’s Beethoven? Perhaps your little one is destined to be the next Eddie VanHalen or aspires to be Taylor Swift? Sarasota’s highly rated Music Compound offers music education for all ages, levels, and genres. Music Compound, created by Jenny Townsend, is a performance-based school that takes a holistic approach, focusing on both professional and personal development through music. Through classes and camps, kids will not only increase their musical skillset and build upon their love for music, but they will also develop confidence and build a strong sense of community.
Music Compound offers a diverse array of programs, all taught by highly qualified instructors who are passionate about music education and their students' progress. Private and group lessons are offered for both kids and adults in Bass, Digital Music (Ableton, Pro Tools, GarageBand, Logic, etc.), DJ, Drums, Guitar, Piano, Vocals, Violin, and more. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned musician, in genres ranging from rock to classical, Music Compound has a program to help you turn your musical dream into a reality.
Jenny Townsend, the driving force behind Music Compound, is an old friend of Stroll Magazine, having worked for the magazine as an event producer after graduating from the University of South Florida in 2009. She also hosted her own events, including Beer, Bands, & BBQ, Back-to-School bashes, open houses, and more. Having been born and raised right here in Sarasota, Jenny is proud to be a fifth-generation Floridian. She says, “My family has deep roots in the Sarasota, Bradenton, and Tampa areas. My maiden name is Alday—you might recognize it from Alday’s BBQ, which is run by my uncle Jeff. My parents owned a window cleaning company, and one of their biggest clients was Publix. I actually started helping out by cleaning windows from the age of eight all the way until I was about twenty-three, before moving into real estate.” Entrepreneurship is a quality that transcends her family, as nearly half the members of her large extended family, including seventeen cousins, operate their own businesses or work for a family-owned business.
Music Compound has a brand-new, state-of-the-art facility located at 775 Bell Rd, Sarasota, FL 34240, near the Fruitville Road/I-75 corridor. The well-appointed building features twenty private lesson rooms, five group studios for jamming and rehearsals, as well as lounges for students and parents to relax, connect, and recharge. There are also two concert venues onsite, complete with professional lighting, sound, and design.
With a strong desire to give back to the community, Music Compound partners with schools, organizations, and events to provide live music, support, and in-kind/cash donations. They recently participated in Remake Learning Days, and their album ensemble has donated funds to Operation Warrior, All Faiths Food Bank, Sparc, Nami, and the Resilient Retreat.
