Meet Phoenix, the beloved Goldendoodle who has quickly become a standout member of the Red Rock community. Phoenix joined the Zeeb family, Tom, Carolina, Tommy (17), and Dominic (11), when he was just 12 weeks old and now happily calls North Lake Shore Drive home.

When the Zeebs decided it was time for their first family pet, they knew they wanted a medium-sized, well-mannered, hypoallergenic companion. That search led them to Siesta Key Doodles, a breeder they highly recommend. Of the entire litter, Phoenix stole their hearts with his sweet face, striking beige coat, and unique features. “The breeder named him,” Carolina shared. “They explained he was special because of his blue eyes and lighter nose, which isn’t common for doodles. They called him ‘Phoenix Rising,’ and we loved it.”

Now 1 year and 6 months old, Phoenix is affectionate, confident, and incredibly intuitive. He loves toys, car rides, trails, lakes, and rivers, and especially being with his family. A summer road trip from Sarasota to Buffalo sealed his reputation as the ultimate travel buddy. He also attends weekly dog camp at Camp with Jim LaClair, where he enjoys spending time with his canine friends.

Phoenix is bilingual too. “Just like my kids,” Carolina laughs. “I speak Spanish, and he understands!” He is also exceptionally well trained, mastering commands quickly and continuing both private and group training.

One of Phoenix’s most impressive accomplishments is earning his Pet Therapy Certification through the Humane Society of Sarasota in November 2025. He regularly visits nursing homes and Sarasota Memorial Hospital, where his calm demeanor and gentle presence bring comfort to residents and patients alike. “He knows they need love,” Carolina says, “and he’s happy to give it.”

Despite being expected to top out at 25 to 30 pounds, Phoenix now weighs a lovable 47. The family jokes that he grew so big because he was given so much love, much like Clifford the Big Red Dog.
