Jessica Perry and the Spirit of Service at Marshview Bible Camp
In this season of giving and gratitude, Stroll Westbrook is honored to feature Jessica Perry, a neighbor whose heart for service and faith-driven purpose are making a real difference in our community. Jessica serves on the Board of Directors at Marshview Bible Camp, a beloved 50-acre retreat center nestled along the marsh in Midway, Georgia — just 40 minutes from Pooler.
Founded in 1983 by Tommy J. Taylor, Marshview Bible Camp began as a labor of love and healing. After losing his wife, Taylor found strength and encouragement through a camp experience in central Georgia. Inspired to share that same hope with others, he purchased the Midway property and transformed it into a place where generations of children and families could connect with God, nature, and one another. Over the years, he added fishing ponds, cabins, and recreation areas — building not just a camp, but a community where faith could flourish.
Today, Marshview Bible Camp is alive with activity year-round. Its programs include kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding, swimming, fishing, hiking, basketball, volleyball, pickleball, and Gagaball — offering countless opportunities for campers to experience joy, teamwork, and the beauty of God’s creation. The campus welcomes church groups, homeschool programs, scouts, and retreat participants from across the region. From summer camps and athletic retreats to pastor gatherings and couples weekends, Marshview continues to touch lives — nearly 750 people each year, from kids to “kids at heart.”
Jessica’s connection to Marshview began through her professional background in marketing and communications, where she first partnered with the camp in her previous role as Communications Director for a community organization. “After hearing about the impact Marshview has had on generations of kids,” she shares, “I felt called to use my skills to help ensure it continues to make an impact for the next 40 years and beyond.”
Since officially joining the Board of Directors in September, Jessica has played a key role in helping the camp grow its outreach and strengthen its operations. Her work focuses on expanding awareness, supporting fundraising efforts, and helping Marshview build connections within the broader community. “It’s an incredible feeling to use my gifts to serve a ministry that’s truly changing lives,” she says.
The mission is also personal for Jessica. She and her husband, John, are excited to introduce their son, Jack, to Marshview as he grows up. “He’s only a year old now, but I can’t wait for him to experience camp one day,” she says. “It’s one of the big reasons I’m so passionate about my work with Marshview — knowing that one day, my son will get to see God’s beauty and love reflected in this place.”
Jessica and her family moved to Westbrook in 2021, relocating from Southern California. “We’re so thankful to live in such a safe, beautiful neighborhood,” she says. “We love taking walks to the playground or pool, and with both sets of grandparents here in Westbrook, we get to enjoy so much special family time.”
As Marshview Bible Camp celebrates over 40 years of ministry, Jessica encourages her neighbors to get involved in whatever way they can — whether through volunteering, donating supplies, or supporting the camp financially. “After four decades of serving the Lowcountry, we’re still one of its best-kept secrets,” she says with a smile. “But every helping hand, every prayer, and every contribution ensures this place will continue to bless generations to come.”
Through her heart for faith and service, Jessica Perry embodies the true spirit of Making a Difference — using her talents not only to lift others up, but to build something lasting, meaningful, and full of light.
