Investing in People, Properties & Possibility
For Mike Wilson and his family, making a difference isn’t something that happens separately from their work, it’s at the heart of it. This year, Mike launched Nehemiah Factor, a Savannah-area property management company created around a simple but meaningful idea: business can be a vehicle for positive change.
With more than 20 years of experience in construction, property management and real estate, Mike had spent his career working with properties. But he wanted to put that experience toward something greater.
The inspiration came in part from the contrast he saw throughout Savannah. The city’s grand historic districts and picturesque squares attract visitors from around the world, while just blocks away are neighborhoods and properties that have been overlooked for years. Nehemiah Factor was created to help close that gap, not by simply investing in properties, but by investing in the people and neighborhoods connected to them.
The company’s model is straightforward. A portion of the revenue generated through property management is reinvested into restoring overlooked properties and strengthening the surrounding communities. The long-term vision includes preserving neighborhood character, creating quality housing, reducing displacement by listening to and working alongside existing residents, and providing employment and mentorship opportunities for people who might otherwise be overlooked.
“People are at the heart of the mission,” Mike says.
The company’s first major project is the restoration of a historic triplex in Savannah’s Cuyler-Brownsville neighborhood. But for Nehemiah Factor, the project is about much more than renovating a building. The goal is to become a long-term stakeholder in the neighborhood and allow the company’s mission to grow thoughtfully from there.
That commitment also means showing up. Nehemiah Factor plans to work alongside community organizations and local partners to host “Sweep the Block” days, bringing residents and volunteers together to improve neighborhood spaces and build relationships along the way.
Mike isn’t pursuing the mission alone. His wife, Jessica, and their three children are an important part of the heart behind the work. Together, they share a faith-rooted commitment to serving others and strengthening families and communities. For their children, it’s also an opportunity to see firsthand that a business can pursue excellence and operate responsibly while making a meaningful difference.
After nearly three years in the area, the Wilson family is grateful to call Pooler home. They appreciate its genuine sense of community and feel they couldn’t have found a better place to raise their children.
Now, they hope to bring that same spirit of community investment to neighborhoods throughout the Savannah area.
For those who want to support Nehemiah Factor, one of the simplest ways is to consider the company for property management needs. Every property it manages helps expand its ability to reinvest in overlooked neighborhoods. Connections matter, too—from property owners and neighborhood leaders to contractors and community advocates.
For the Wilson family, the vision is ultimately about being present, investing for the long term and helping people and neighborhoods flourish. It’s property management with a purpose—and a family committed to making that purpose matter.
