More Than a Good Neighbor

How State Farm Agent Chasidy Murphy built a business rooted in protection, purpose, and community.

When Chasidy Murphy opened her State Farm Agency in Trophy Club in December 2018, she was stepping into more than just a new business venture—she was embracing an opportunity to serve her community in a deeply personal way. Over the past seven years, she’s done just that, helping countless individuals and families protect what matters most while finding joy in giving back.

Chasidy’s journey began far from Texas, in the rural countryside of South Carolina. After earning a degree in Computer Engineering from Tulane University in New Orleans, she started her career at IBM. When the company dismantled its hardware division, Chasidy pivoted into a new path, selling cars part-time at CarMax. That “side hustle” soon became a calling, and she spent the next 14 years with the company, ultimately serving as General Manager at stores in Fresno, California, and Puyallup, Washington.

After two decades in corporate life, Chasidy began to crave something more—something with meaning beyond metrics. “I wanted to be able to choose how I donated my business time and money,” she explains. When she discovered State Farm’s strong alignment with her own values of integrity, service, and community, she knew she’d found her next chapter.

At her Trophy Club agency, Chasidy and her team do far more than sell insurance. “We don’t just sell. We educate, inform, and empower our customers to make the decisions that best fit their lives,” she says. While most people associate State Farm with home and auto insurance, her agency also offers life, disability, and small business coverage. Chasidy is especially passionate about life and small business insurance—areas that hit close to home for her as both a professional and a leader.

“As a small business owner, I recognize how devastating it would be if my business or life weren’t insured,” she explains. “It’s not just about me—it’s about my employees, their families, and their livelihoods. I share that same passion to protect with my fellow small business owners.”

That sense of responsibility—to others, not just herself—extends far beyond her office. Chasidy has a long history of community involvement, including serving as past president of the local Rotary Club, a current board member of the Northwest Education Foundation, and a board member at the Trophy Club Country Club. She’s also a frequent sponsor of local events.

“We live in an area surrounded by wealth and privilege,” she says. “Sometimes, that means finding opportunities to serve outside of our own community. The quote: ‘Volunteering is at the very core of being a human. No one has made it through life without someone else’s help,’ reminds me of all the people who helped me achieve greater success than I imagined as a poor kid from rural South Carolina. We don’t owe it to others to serve, but I believe we owe it to ourselves.”

For Chasidy, true fulfillment comes when the work she does makes a difference in someone’s life, especially during life’s hardest moments. “When I’ve educated someone to choose the right protection for their assets, and in their worst moment, those choices make a difference in their ability to recover from the unexpected—that’s the most rewarding part of what I do.”

Her advice for anyone reviewing their coverage? Don’t shop for insurance like you’re comparing apples to apples. “Find an agent who takes the time to help you understand your coverage needs and risk tolerance,” she says. “And remember, personal articles coverage isn’t just for jewelry—you can insure high-ticket items, such as guns, golf clubs, fine art, computers, or collectibles.”

Outside of the office, you’ll likely find Chasidy on the golf course—her favorite hobby and her favorite way to unwind. An avid golfer, she plays two to three times a week and loves to travel to places where she can combine both passions—golf and exploring new places.

Reflecting on her journey, Chasidy sums it up simply: “I’m thankful that God brought me to this State Farm opportunity because it allows me to serve in ways that are meaningful to me. To quote one of my favorite authors, Maya Angelou, ‘I’ve learned that you shouldn’t go through life with catcher’s mitts on both hands. You need to be able to throw something back.’”

And that’s exactly what Chasidy Murphy does—every single day.
