The Thomas Family’s Dream Home: Eclectic Luxury Meets Everyday Comfort
From a light-filled great room to a cozy Colorado-inspired retreat, every space was thoughtfully designed for family living, style, and function.
After reimagining their outdoor space into a serene, mountain-inspired retreat, Jennifer and Roland Thomas turned their attention indoors, transforming their Wildhorse ranch into a home that reflects both style and family living. “We built our dream spaces,” Jennifer says. “I can’t really pick one favorite part! Every room has its own beauty, interest, and purpose.”
The Thomases took the shell of their home and started fresh, creating an open concept layout that enhances flow and light throughout. Walls were moved, new flooring laid, and the entire interior painted to complement a transitional luxury aesthetic with eclectic touches. A standout is their four-season “Colorado Room,” featuring an antler chandelier and a wood-burning stone fireplace, capturing the mountain vibe they love. Other highlights include a resurfaced fireplace, a fully updated kitchen with new cabinets, counters, and appliances, and a refined basement housing a movie room, home gym, and a new bedroom and bathroom.
Roland served as general contractor, tackling everything from demolition to hardwood installation and electrical work, with the whole family pitching in. Designer Felicia McCaskill of Dezign Haus helped unify the home’s eclectic and transitional elements, while a team of skilled craftsmen, including Jon Quist, DKIM Manufacturing, Kirkwood Stair, Swanson Masonry, Metro Lighting, Tony Goslee Jr., McIntyre Millwork, and Kyle Armstrong, brought their vision to life.
The Thomases’ approach to design is intentional and thoughtful, balancing aesthetics with function for both current and future family needs. Jennifer emphasizes the importance of preparation: “Start with inspiration. Find images of what you love to communicate your vision to contractors and designers. Their guidance helps narrow choices so you end up with a home that’s truly yours, not just what’s trending.”
The result is a cohesive, inviting home where every space serves a purpose, from vibrant pops of color in the office and dining room to the light, airy great room perfect for family gatherings. For the Thomas family, their house isn’t just a place to live, it’s a reflection of who they are and how they live together.
