Jack and Robby Preckel: Twin Athletes with a Bright Future
From Friday Night Lights to Collegiate Success

Celebrating after a LHS win
Lafayette High School seniors Jack and Robby Preckel have been making waves in the world of high school athletics, earning scholarships to continue their sports careers at the collegiate level. The twin brothers of Tara, sons of Gayle and Rick Preckel, have played football for seven years as wide receivers and have also spent the last three years excelling in javelin for the LHS track and field team. Their dedication, talent, and leadership have set them apart both on and off the field.
Jack and Robby’s love for football was inspired by their older brothers, Henry and Sam. Their journey in track and field began when a favorite coach encouraged them to try the javelin, a decision that has since paid off. Their natural athletic ability and strong work ethic have led to numerous accolades. Both served as captains of the LHS football team, with Jack earning the Academic All-State Award and Robby receiving All-State and All-Metro Wide Receiver honors. Robby also holds the Lafayette school record for receiving yards and touchdowns in a season.
For Jack and Robby, football is all about teamwork and competition, while javelin provides a unique challenge that requires precision and technique. Their favorite high school memories include winning the state quarterfinals during their senior season and sharing the experience of playing alongside their friends. They credit the LHS coaching staff for their growth and success.
Both athletes recognize the challenges of constantly improving, learning new techniques, and staying injury-free. Their advice for younger athletes? Work hard in the off-season, be coachable, support your teammates, and lead by example.
Looking ahead, Jack will attend Missouri S&T as a two-sport athlete in football and track, majoring in civil engineering. Robby will head to Northwestern University on a full-ride football scholarship, also majoring in civil engineering.
Beyond sports, Jack enjoys watching college and professional games, while Robby loves building Star Wars Legos. The twins also share a love for Universal Studios and Colorado vacations. With their strong foundation and determination, the future is bright for the Preckel brothers!
