A Bucket List Journey Across Africa - PART ONE
From desert dunes to the Serengeti, Linda and David Kiefer experience Africa’s landscapes, wildlife, and wonders in their natural setting.

For Linda and David Kiefer of Wildhorse, October 2025 marked the fulfillment of a lifelong dream: seeing Africa in the wild. Neither had ever ventured into the continent’s vast landscapes before, and this extraordinary journey offered something rare - the chance to experience Africa’s scenery, cultures, and wildlife in their natural settings, all in one unforgettable sweep.
The adventure began in Marrakesh, Morocco, immersing them in the colors and energy of North Africa before moving south to the dramatic desert dunes of Namibia. From there, the journey continued to Cape Town, South Africa, where they traveled all the way to the Cape of Good Hope, standing at the tip of the African continent. Later stops included the thunderous beauty of Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, the endless plains of the Serengeti in Tanzania, and the ancient wonders of Luxor, Egypt.
Along the way, the Kiefers experienced moments they will never forget: drifting silently over the Serengeti in a hot air balloon, soaring by helicopter above Victoria Falls, and getting astonishingly close to wildlife. Lions, giraffes, elephants, hippos, wildebeest, zebras, crocodiles, and more appeared not on screens or behind fences, but in the open wild. Witnessing the great wildebeest migration was a particular highlight.
From feeding elephants up close to exploring the tombs of the pharaohs, the trip delivered one remarkable experience after another. It was a journey they could never have planned on their own and one they will always treasure.
Stay tuned next month to discover how Linda and David were able to experience Africa in such an extraordinary way.
