Making Moves with Marcus!

Point guard Marcus Tenzer shows what passion, teamwork, and persistence can do on and off the court.

Meet Marcus Tenzer of Greystone, a 13-year-old enthusiastic point guard who has been dedicated to the game of basketball for the past nine years. Currently, he plays for the Lafayette Basketball Feeder Team, where he continues to improve and practice his skills and help his teammates on the court.

Marcus’s journey started in preschool when his parents signed him up for basketball. That early introduction sparked a passion that hasn’t faded. Over the years, Marcus has competed in many tournaments, earning medals and championship wins along the way.

What Marcus most enjoys about basketball is the sense of control that comes with his position. As a point guard, he is the team’s playmaker. “I love dribbling, shooting, passing, and driving to the basket,” he says. “All of those make me feel like I’m in control and have a purpose within the sport.”

One of his favorite moments on the court happened when he was just eight years old. With the score tied at 6-6, Marcus stepped up to the free-throw line and calmly made the game-winning shot. “The score ended up being 6-7, and I’ll never forget that moment,” he recalls.

Like many athletes, Marcus faces challenges. “I’m not very tall, which isn’t great for basketball, and my shot can be inconsistent, but I’m getting better,” he says with determination. His advice to others: “Practice being an all-around player. Whether you’re four feet or six feet, focus on fundamentals and work towards a goal.”

Outside of basketball, Marcus enjoys walking, bike rides, playing video games, and spending time with his family. Looking to the future, he hopes to attend Duke University, to play basketball or just watch their team and plans to earn a business degree like his dad.

Overall, Marcus Tenzer is a passionate young point guard, dedicated to improving his game, leading his team, and chasing big dreams on the court, in the classroom, and beyond.
