Meet the Haskins Family of The Highlands

From Coast to Cul-de-Sac, Dan and Lara Haskins, along with their son Hunter and their Bernese Mountain Dog Opie, embrace family life in The Highlands.

Dan and Lara Haskins, along with their 12-month-old son Hunter, and their energetic Bernese Mountain Dog, Opie, have found their perfect home in The Highlands. Originally from different coasts—Dan from the small beach town of Hull, Massachusetts, and Lara from San Francisco, California—the Haskins family has made Wildwood their new home base.

The couple met in Boston in 2017, and Dan’s job brought them to St. Louis in the summer of 2019. After briefly returning to Boston during the pandemic, they moved back to St. Louis as an engaged couple in September 2020. Their first year together was spent in the lively One Cardinal Way building downtown, but when they started planning for a family, they knew they needed a place that would grow with them.

The Highlands neighborhood was the perfect fit, and they fell in love with their home enjoying the quiet cul-de-sac location and beautiful yard - ideal for both working from home and raising Hunter.

Dan works as a VP-Advisor Consultant at Nuveen, an asset management firm, while Lara is the Marketing Director at Motus, a tech company based out of Boston. In their free time, Dan stays active playing ice hockey, while Lara participates in a recreational volleyball league. Both enjoy golfing and exploring area parks with Opie and Hunter, who love outdoor adventures!

Family time is treasured, and many of their activities center around Hunter, who is just starting to crawl, (almost) walk and explore his surroundings. Every summer, they return east to spend time with family, splitting their vacation between Hull, MA, and a lake house in New Jersey.

For dinners, Lara enjoys cooking pasta, chili, and baking her famous cheesecake, while Dan loves grilling steak and salmon. When they venture out, they frequent local favorites like The Tavern, Katie’s Pizza, and Salt & Smoke. Whether they’re relaxing at home or heading out to an NHL game, the Haskins family is all about enjoying life’s moments together.
