Big Plays, Bigger Goals
Whether it’s a grand slam or a clutch shot, Carter Cunningham brings focus, effort, and passion to every game.
Meet Carter Cunningham of Wildhorse! A 12-year-old student at Rockwood Valley Middle School who excels in both baseball and basketball. Carter is inspired and supported by his family; his dad, Brad; his mom, Kelly; and his sister, Peyton.
Carter plays baseball for Rawlings Tigers, where he takes on the roles of pitcher and center fielder. He also plays guard for the Jr. Lancers basketball team. With seven years of experience, Carter has developed strong skills and dedication. His interest in sports began by watching his sister play, and later grew when his dad encouraged him to try different sports.
Through hard work and commitment, Carter has earned several awards including the Cy Young award for best pitcher on his team twice as well as two shooting awards at the Lafayette basketball camp. While he enjoys both sports, Carter really likes baseball and the team environment where everyone contributes, learns from one another, and is supported by coaches who help players improve.
One of Carter’s favorite moments was hitting a grand slam this past baseball season. Like any athlete, he also faces challenges, such as working through hitting slumps, learning new pitches, and getting stronger. His advice is, “Stay calm and focused, don’t rush things. To get better, you have to put in the work outside of practice.”
Outside of sports, Carter enjoys watching The Simpsons and playing on the mini basketball hoop in his room. With his hard work and positive attitude, Carter Cunningham continues to grow as both an athlete and a teammate, showing great promise for the future both on and off the field.
