With his quirky habits, cuddly personality, and talent for finding the comfiest spot in the house, Memphis has become a beloved part of the Milam family.

In the Highlands, the Milam family's beloved dog Memphis is much more than a pet, he is a full-fledged member of the family. Jennifer and Jeff, along with daughters Emily, 13, Adelynn, 10, and Harper, who turns 6 in August, share their home with the lovable black Pit Bull mix who has become known for his quirky habits and affectionate personality.
Memphis is 7½ years old and was adopted in Memphis, Tennessee, where Jennifer and Jeff previously lived for two years before moving to the neighborhood. The family had been looking to add another dog to their home when they discovered Memphis on an urgent adoption list. Naming him was an easy decision. Since he was adopted in Memphis, the same city where the couple had also adopted previous dogs, the name felt like the perfect fit.
Like many beloved family pets, Memphis has developed a few habits that keep everyone entertained. He prefers sleeping on three stacked dog beds instead of just one and has a habit of sneaking onto the couch even though he knows he is not supposed to. He also enjoys sleeping directly on Jeff and Jennifer’s pillows and will happily lay outside in the hundred-degree heat if given the chance. Over the years, he has collected several nicknames, but one thing remains constant: his love for McDonald’s hamburgers.
One of the family’s funniest memories happened during Christmas cookie baking when Memphis jumped onto the table to lick it clean before anyone could stop him.
The Milams describe Memphis as incredibly spoiled, receiving constant cuddles, affection, and daily walks. Having moved several times with the family, Memphis has been a steady and comforting presence through every chapter.
When the family travels, Memphis stays at County Acres Pet Resort, and they trust Chesterfield Valley Veterinary Clinic for his regular care. For the Milams, life with Memphis is never boring and they would not have it any other way!
