More Living, Less Cleaning

Coming home shouldn’t feel like another chore. Meet Maid Pop, a local cleaning service founded by a local dad who believes a clean home should bring comfort, calm, and more time for what matters most.

Most people know the feeling of pulling into the driveway after a long day, exhausted and immediately thinking of the chores waiting inside—the dishes, the floors, that bathroom mirror you meant to clean last weekend. David McUpperman knows it well, and instead of accepting that stress, he built a business to alleviate it.

David is the founder of Maid Pop, a house-cleaning service based in Vandalia. His goal is to clean houses and give families time, comfort, and the ability to walk into a home without thinking about chores.

“We are a deluxe house cleaning service focused on customer satisfaction and building a relationship with each customer,” David says. “We’re not just a clean-it and forget-it service. We want clients to feel excited to come home after work, not stressed by what’s waiting on the to-do list.”

David’s path to Maid Pop didn’t start in cleaning. For years, he worked in low-voltage operations and management, running DLM Installations, which installs security and low-voltage systems across Ohio. The work often took him away from home, which became an issue as his family grew. “I started Maid Pop to be close to home daily,” he explains. “I have five children, and I can’t be hours away when they need me.”

That family-first mindset drives how he runs Maid Pop. Though the business is new, David’s years of customer service and leadership paid off immediately. “Maid Pop went from 0 to 37 customers in the first month,” he shares. But for David, growth isn’t just about numbers—it’s about how the company treats people. “We’re genuine, and we care about our clients and staff,” he emphasizes.

At its core, Maid Pop is simple: help families spend more time with loved ones, not cleaning. David breaks the service into three categories:

1. Daily cleaning: Dishes, laundry, tidying up—tasks families already handle themselves.

2. Maintenance cleaning: Weekly or biweekly visits to dust; clean surfaces, toilets, and tubs; and mop, vacuum, and even clean inside the microwave. “We keep your home guest-ready,” David notes. “Impress your next visitor with a sparkling bathroom mirror they can actually see their reflection in.”

3. Deep cleaning: The chores nobody wants to do, including scrubbing baseboards, cleaning cabinets, and restoring oven glass. “We tackle the backbreaking stuff people ignore,” he comments.

What keeps David motivated is the payoff. “Meeting new people every day and seeing them smile when they walk into a clean home is the best part,” he expresses. “A clean space means fewer distractions and more time for family, relaxation, or just putting your feet up.”

David was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, and later moved closer to Dayton with his wife from Englewood. They settled in Vandalia in 2025, raising five kids—four boys and a daughter, whom David jokes is tougher than all four boys combined—and a dog. The family loves soccer, the outdoors, and beach trips. When he isn’t working, David’s priorities are simple: “Play with my kids and sleep,” he remarks.

His definition of success reflects his grounded approach: “Taking small daily steps to reach a goal,” he states. “Success is the journey, not just the finish line.” He hopes to be remembered for showing his children how to face challenges head-on and keep moving forward, and above all, he’s grateful for his wife. “She’s always supporting me, even when my ideas are wild,” he shares with a smile.

If spending more time with the people in your life is important to you, David and his team are ready to help.
