The Dog Days Edition

When you hear the phrase Dog Days of Summer, you probably think of long, hot afternoons, backyard barbecues, and a slower pace of life. The expression actually dates back thousands of years to the ancient Greeks and Romans, who associated the hottest days of summer with the rising of Sirius, the "Dog Star." Today, the phrase has taken on a much more lighthearted meaning, and we couldn't resist having a little fun with it.

In our cover story, you'll meet a Yankee Trace pet sitter whose love of animals inspired her pet-sitting business, giving neighbors peace of mind while they're away. Inside, you'll also meet Benji, an adorable neighborhood Cavapoo with a big personality, several local dog (and kid!) sitters who help keep tails wagging and families connected, and a dog-themed recipe perfect for your late-summer soirées.

As you flip through the pages, you may notice a few more canine-inspired touches sprinkled throughout the magazine. Consider it our way of embracing the season and celebrating the joy, companionship, and unconditional love that dogs bring into our lives.

Whether you're spending these last weeks of summer by the pool, on the golf course, traveling with family, or simply enjoying a walk through the neighborhood with your favorite four-legged companion, I hope this issue brings a smile to your face.

Here's to making the most of the Dog Days of Summer!
