Kellie James is both an Agritopia neighbor and a trusted partner, and we have had the pleasure of working with her personally and professionally. If you’ve spent any time in Agritopia, chances are you’ve crossed paths with Kellie, or at least felt the impact of her work behind the scenes. She’s not just a trusted mortgage expert, she’s a neighbor who genuinely cares about helping people feel confident, supported, and at home.
Kellie has called Arizona home since 1978, growing up in Tempe and eventually planting roots here in Agritopia in the fall of 2021. Family is at the center of everything she does, and one of her greatest joys is having them close. Her son, Jerrod, and daughter-in-law Heidi live right here in the neighborhood, while her daughter, Camryn, is nearby in Chandler and planning to marry her fiancé, Braden, in November, which makes for an especially exciting season for the family. Between busy schedules, family time, and their dogs Blondie and Billie, plus the grand-dogs Pogo and Harley, life stays full in the best way. As Kellie puts it, every day she pulls into the neighborhood and still can’t believe she gets to live here, especially with so much of her family just around the corner.
Her path into the mortgage industry started in a way many can relate to, simply saying yes to opportunity. While attending ASU, she worked at a car dealership and learned every part of the business, from sales to auto loans. A former manager recognized her strengths and encouraged her to step into the mortgage world, and that decision turned into a 26-year career she still loves today. Over the years, she has become a top performing lender, but more importantly, someone her clients and partners trust again and again.
What truly sets Kellie apart is how much she cares about the people she works with. She takes the time to walk each client through every step, making sure they understand what’s happening and feel confident in their decisions. Her conversations always begin with what matters most to you and what kind of life you’re trying to build, then she helps create a path forward that fits those goals.
That trust is something she takes seriously. In a world of big, impersonal lenders, Kellie offers a different experience, one rooted in relationships, transparency, and discretion. As she puts it, she is a vault, and no one will know you are working with her unless you choose to share it. Her clients are never passed between departments or left guessing, they have one steady, knowledgeable partner from start to finish.
She often shares that one of the biggest mistakes people make is waiting too long to start the conversation. It’s easy to fall in love with a home first, but that can turn an exciting moment into a stressful one. Kellie helps take that pressure off by planning ahead, especially for first-time buyers who may not realize how many options they actually have. She loves reminding people that everyone has a path to homeownership, sometimes it just takes a conversation to see it clearly.
Kellie is also passionate about helping younger buyers get started, even if their first home is small. She has seen firsthand how taking that first step can open doors later, whether it’s building equity, upgrading, or creating long-term stability. She often reflects on how those early decisions can shape a family’s future, and she enjoys helping parents and kids think through those possibilities together.
For Kellie, the most rewarding part of her work is knowing she’s helping families build something meaningful. Whether it’s a first home, a growing family’s next step, or a long-term investment, she understands how personal these decisions are. That care and consistency have helped her rank in the top third of her company nationwide, something she’s proud of, especially because it comes from relationships and referrals built over time.
At the end of the process, what matters most to Kellie is how people feel. She wants her clients to walk away feeling confident, cared for, and comfortable reaching out anytime, whether it’s next month or years down the road. Her goal is simple, to become someone they think of as part of their extended family.
And when she’s not working, you’ll likely find Kellie enjoying life with her husband Rick, spending time with their kids and grand-pups, or heading out together to a disco themed party where they are guaranteed to be some of the best dressed in the room.
