Rooted in Faith, Built for Service: The Purpose-Driven Path of Isaiah Kilpatrick

Isaiah Kilpatrick is a 16-year-old junior who has spent his entire life surrounded by family, faith, and a strong sense of community. He lives in the countryside of Barboursville with his parents, Jeff and Amie Kilpatrick, and his younger siblings, Sadie, 12, and Blake, 11. Their home sits on four peaceful acres, with extended family and close family friends living along the same road, a setting Isaiah describes as beautiful, quiet, and grounding.

Isaiah attends the Woody Williams Center for Advanced Learning and Careers, a feeder for Cabell Midland High School, where he is focused on building a future rooted in both skill and service. After high school, he plans to work toward acceptance into the AMT program at Toyota in Buffalo, while studying at BridgeValley Community and Technical College. Along with those goals, Isaiah already holds a building maintenance certification and is working toward earning his carpentry certification as well. “I want to work hard, learn as much as I can, and always have skills I can fall back on,” Isaiah shared with Stroll Barboursville.

While Isaiah previously played football and baseball for Wayne, Barboursville Middle School, and Cabell Midland High School, he made the intentional decision to step away from sports to focus more fully on academics, leadership, and service. “I’ve always loved sports, but helping younger students learn to be safe and make good choices has always meant more to me,” he said.

Isaiah serves as a reporter in SkillsUSA, secretary of the PEP Club, secretary of the National Technical Honor Society, and is a member of both the Cabell Midland Honor Society and the National Honor Society for High School Scholars. Through SkillsUSA, Isaiah volunteers at the City Mission and helps fellow CTE students develop leadership skills. He was recognized at the 2025 SkillsUSA Leadership Conference as the Most Valuable Participant, an honor that reflects both his work ethic and character.

Isaiah also volunteers regularly at Barboursville Little League, helping with scorekeeping, scoreboard operations, field cleanup, and assisting coaches wherever needed.

One of his favorite recent memories came through SkillsUSA, when he performed Wagon Wheel on guitar at the SkillsUSA talent show and earned second place. “Getting to play guitar and represent my program was a really special moment for me,” he said.

Academically, Isaiah holds a 4.0+ GPA and scored a 68.4 on the NOCTI test, well above the national average. He was also honored as Student of the Week by Dan Kinder of Midland Insurance.

When asked who he admires most, Isaiah points to his faith. “Jesus gives me the strength to lead, serve, and help others,” he shared. “I just try to honor His word by showing love, helping people, and being the best example I can.”

With humility, dedication, and a servant’s heart, Isaiah Kilpatrick is building not just a career path but a life defined by purpose, leadership, and compassion.
