Tell us a little about your background and how you got started in the generator business.
This is a family business that’s been around for a little over 10 years. My dad started it after having prior experience working with generators earlier in his career. He originally stepped away from that line of work while running his industrial cleaning equipment business, but later decided to get back into generators. I joined during COVID, and since then we’ve continued to grow and expand throughout Northeast Ohio.
What kind of experience does your team bring to the table?
Our background is rooted in servicing industrial equipment, so we’re very hands-on and technically focused. I also have a technical background and am a licensed plumber, which plays a big role in how we approach installations. Everything we do is centered around doing the job right and making sure the system works safely and efficiently.

What services do you offer homeowners?
At Backup Power Solutions, we are a one stop shop for backup power. That means we handle everything in house, including sales, installation, service, and maintenance. We work with all major generator brands, including Generac, Kohler, Cummins, Briggs & Stratton, and Champion, so we can provide a full range of options based on each homeowner’s needs.

The biggest difference is that we offer custom solutions. It’s not one size fits all. Every home and every family is different, so we take the time to understand what matters most to each homeowner. What is a moment in your work that stands out to you?
A lot of the most rewarding moments come from solving complex problems. Especially with older homes, there isn’t always a straightforward solution. You have to think creatively and find a way to make everything work properly without cutting corners. When you step back and know the job is solid and done right, that’s something to be proud of.

We are starting to look beyond just generators and more toward complete energy solutions, which includes things like solar and battery backup systems. People are becoming more interested in offsetting their energy usage and having more control. The goal is to provide options that help homeowners become more self sufficient over time.
