Looking to add a unique stamp to your holiday cards this year? Then plan a visit, as many Floridians do, to the tiny town of Christmas, Florida, where the streets are named after Santa's reindeer. It's about half an hour from Orlando and well worth the brief detour. Visit its small red-brick post office (where there's a year-round Christmas tree in the lobby, of course) to postmark your season's greetings with a festive Christmas seal, and even deliver letters to Santa, no stamp required. On December 25, 1937, 2,000 US soldiers arrived in what is now Christmas, Florida, to build a fort and named it for the holiday. The town that followed took the same name.  Christmas’s first post office, which has since been replaced with a more modern one, was established almost 40 years later, in 1892.

 

This is a full 3.5-hour Christmas experience, rather than just a train ride. The train ride is a 35-minute ride from Parrish, FL, to the “North Pole." When you get to the North Pole, Santa is there to greet every child. Included with every ticket is entertainment, hot cocoa, cookies, and some holiday activities.
