The Heart Behind Hoover’s Welcome: Tynette Lynch’s Legacy of Service to Hoover
Some people never ask to be recognized.
They simply show up, again and again. Serving. Giving. Connecting. Caring. In ways that shape everything around them.
Tynette Lynch is that person.
You won’t hear Tynette Lynch talk about her accomplishments. She is soft-spoken and gracious, with a presence that draws you in. But throughout Hoover, her influence can be felt in the way this city welcomes, connects, and cares for the people who pass through it.
A Love That Led the Way
To know Tynette is to understand the life she built alongside her husband, Pat Lynch.
To know Tynette is to understand the life she built alongside her husband, Pat Lynch.
For 35 years, they walked hand in hand, serving their community, raising their family, and investing deeply in the people and places around them. Their life together was marked by purpose and partnership, each complementing the other in the way they led and loved.
Pat, who retired as President of Birmingham Budweiser before starting his own business and public affairs firm, was a steady and respected presence throughout Hoover. He was known not only for his leadership, but for the way he showed up, for his family, for his community, and for the relationships he valued so deeply.
Together, they created a life rich in connection. A blended family, with children raised and educated in Hoover and grandchildren they cherish deeply.
“We have lived in beautiful Blackridge for eight years and got to watch it grow,” Tynette says.
That season of life was rooted in a neighborhood they loved, where they built relationships and became part of a growing community. And when asked what she loves most, her answer is immediate.
“The people are my favorite part of living in Blackridge.”
When Pat passed away in 2024, it marked a profound loss, not only for Tynette, but for a community that had been impacted by his life.
And yet, the life they built together continues to guide her.
A Life of Influence, Rooted in People
Tynette would never say this about herself, but her impact on this city is extraordinary.
Tynette would never say this about herself, but her impact on this city is extraordinary.
Her career began with a simple calling. Hospitality. Caring for people. Creating experiences where others feel welcomed, valued, and seen.
After attending Jefferson State Community College and a local design school, she was introduced to tourism, an industry where few women were leading at the time. With determination and vision, she earned her Certified Hotel Administrator designation and began building what would become a decades long career.
She managed the Hyatt Regency Birmingham – The Wynfrey Hotel and other properties throughout the region, eventually becoming the first Director of Tourism for the City of Hoover.
“I was fortunate to be named the first Director of Tourism for the City of Hoover and Director of Aldridge Gardens,” she says.
Much of what Hoover is known for today, its ability to welcome visitors, host events, and create meaningful experiences, has been shaped in part by her leadership.
She has been named Alabama Tourism Executive of the Year, received the Alabama Travel Council’s Award of Excellence, and was honored as Hotelier of the Year. Today, she serves as Chair of the Alabama Tourism Partnership.
But accolades have never been her focus.
“Thirty six years later, it is still my passion,” she says.
Her passion is in building and strengthening relationships between the City of Hoover and the restaurants and hotels that call it home. With 21 hotels in Hoover, she understands that every stay, every meal, every interaction reflects something bigger.
It reflects the city itself.
And for decades, she has worked to ensure that reflection is one of excellence, warmth, and connection. She also works tirelessly behind the scenes to connect those hotels and restaurants to the City of Hoover and to the community itself, helping create a sense of partnership that benefits everyone.
Carrying a Vision Forward
While her title at Aldridge Gardens has changed over the years, Tynette’s influence has only deepened. She continues to lead with clarity and purpose, shaping both the City of Hoover’s tourism efforts and the experience of all who walk through the gardens.

Owned by the City of Hoover, Aldridge Gardens is a gift to the community, open seven days a week with no admission charge, inviting people to slow down, gather, and enjoy its beauty.
Under the city’s vision, one Tynette shares and helps bring to life, the gardens have become a place where people gather, explore, and experience the beauty of Hoover together. Families picnic under the trees. Children love the pond and winding paths. Students visit for field trips. Summer camps give children the chance to be outside in nature, some with their American Girl dolls in tow. Between games, SEC visitors and fans find their way here, drawn to its peaceful setting.
That work is strengthened by the continued involvement of Kay Aldridge, who remains active and deeply committed to the gardens’ future.
Tynette is part of that ongoing story, helping steward a place that reflects the very best of Hoover.
A Legacy That Continues
There is a strength to Tynette Lynch that doesn’t need to be announced. It is seen in the way she leads, the way she loves, and the way she continues forward.
There is a strength to Tynette Lynch that doesn’t need to be announced. It is seen in the way she leads, the way she loves, and the way she continues forward.
She is still serving.
Still building.
Still connecting.
Still building.
Still connecting.
And she carries with her the love, the life, and the legacy she and Pat built together.
And if you look closely, you can see the impact, not just in places or programs, but in people. In the way Hoover feels. In the way it welcomes. In the way it gathers.
Tynette Lynch may never seek the spotlight.
But her life has helped shape it.
And because of her, this city is stronger.
More connected.
More thoughtful.
More thoughtful.
More like home.
