Meet Bear

The Loyal Rescue of Brookfield Country Club

Since moving to Brookfield Country Club in 2008, Eddie Maxwell and  Gabi Mattison,  has enjoyed everything the neighborhood has to offer—from the strong sense of community to the easy access to Canton Street, Milton, and Alpharetta for dining and activities. But one of their favorite companions through the years has been their beloved dog, Bear.
Bear is a 7-year-old male shepherd mix who joined the family after being rescued from Ruff Dog Rescue at just six months old. His name comes with a bit of family humor. While his owner wasn't paying close attention, his wife—a devoted Alabama fan—managed to slip in the name "Bear" as a tribute to legendary football coach Bear Bryant. The name stuck, and so did Bear's place in the family.
What makes Bear truly special is his unwavering loyalty. He's so well-trained that he doesn't require a fence or leash and never wanders off. Friendly with both people and animals, Bear is happiest when he's spending time with friends—especially during neighborhood dog playdates at neighbors' homes.
An avid tennis ball enthusiast, Bear could spend all day fetching. His impressive talent? Catching a tennis ball before it ever hits the ground, even on long-distance throws. When he's not showing off his athletic skills, you'll find him enjoying his favorite chew toys—at least until he's chewed them into pieces.
Whether he's making new furry friends around the neighborhood or chasing down another tennis ball, Bear is a wonderful example of why rescue dogs make such incredible family companions. His loyalty, gentle nature, and playful spirit have made him a cherished member of both his family and the Brookfield community. 🐾
