Heather, we’d love to introduce you to the Daniel Island community! Can you share a bit about your background and what led you to pursue a career in dermatology?
My path to dermatology started about two decades ago with a strong interest in medicine and a desire to build long-term relationships with my patients. I was drawn to dermatology because it offers such a wide scope, from medical and aesthetic care to improving patients’ confidence in caring for their skin. I quickly realized how rewarding it is to not only diagnose and treat a variety of skin conditions, but also to educate patients and help them feel more comfortable and confident. That combination of clinical impact and personal connection made dermatology a perfect fit for me.

I’m especially passionate about patient education. I love helping people understand the “why” behind how and why we care for their skin. When patients truly understand their condition and treatment plan, they feel more empowered and confident in their care. Equally important to me is making sure every one of my patients feels heard and valued. I want my patients to know they are not rushed or dismissed and that their concerns matter to me. I love working together to find the best approach that fits their goals and lifestyle, ensuring that every person who walks into my clinic feels respected, understood, and supported.

It was clear to me right away that patient care is her top priority, not just for the providers, but for the entire staff. I also love that the practice offers a thoughtful balance of both medical and aesthetic dermatology, allowing us to provide more comprehensive care to our patients.

Fun or interesting fact about you as a provider or personally that you’d like to share with our readers?
I am always in the middle of a good book and enjoy swapping recommendations with my patients. I can never get enough of a great story, especially when there are historical facts to learn. I love random facts and trivia! When I’m not in the clinic, I enjoy downtime with my family, whether that’s putting together a new puzzle or having a pizza and game night. I also love getting outside for nature walks and traveling to new places whenever I can.
