608 Ontario Ave: The Prugh Family

This month, the honor of “Yard of the Month” is bestowed upon Julie and Alex Prugh of 608 Ontario Ave.  So, like any normal morning, I’m out driving around with my morning coffee, stalking the neighbors’ yards.  I swear this is becoming easier in general.  I think partly, many have had to redo their landscaping because of that wench Helene.  That, or you guys are starting to realize that pretty gardens are not just satisfying but it's good for the soul and psyche.  It literally took away ALL my anxiety during Covid.  Or, maybe you guys are getting a lil competitive for the honor of the cool ‘’Yard of the Month” sign. You can be the envy of all your neighbors.

So, back to coffee and stalking, I say I don’t have ADHD….  So, I turned the corner from Marmora to Ontario to loop back towards my house, and those stunning planters just stopped me dead in my tracks.  Like I had been driving around for a while, but mentally I decided they were the next house, whether they liked it or not.  You have to see her planters in person to understand! I went straight home, wrote out a few note cards for the homes along my travels (our whopping huge islands), and stopped at 608 last. I was met by 2 adorable attack Frenchies. They seemed more bark than bite, but eventually Julie came out.  After I introduced myself, it was instant smiles.  She beamed with pride because she is the force and mastermind behind ALL of this beauty!  Not only is she a gardener, but she is also a professional gardener who specializes in (drumroll please) containers! SHOCKER!?!? They are shockingly beautiful!

See her work on IG@Hellosunshinebyjulie. She doesn’t know it yet, but I have a feeling she will be a speaker, possibly at the Davis Islands Garden Club next year.   We break for the summer.  But I have a feeling they will be in touch about the fall schedule.
