Smitty’s Floor Covering
It wasn’t like Natalie Smith and her brother Brian had a big learning curve when they stepped in to run Smitty’s Floor Covering at the beginning of the year. After all, Smitty’s has been a family-run business in Denton since Mansell “Smitty” Smith unlocked the doors for the first time over 60 years ago. Everyone in the family has taken their turn running the show since then, including Natalie and Brian, who have chipped in more than their fair share while moving up the ranks.
“I’ve been doing this since I was 15,” Natalie, 44, said with a laugh. She and Brian run the day-to-day now that their Aunt, Darlene Rogers, and their dad, Ricky Smith, have retired. “The whole family has been here in some capacity throughout the years.”
So, in a manner of speaking, not much has changed at Smitty’s. They’re still the oldest floor-covering professionals in Denton County, run by great people who are experts in their craft and committed to high service standards. The quality of their floor coverings proves why they continue to stand the test of time. That includes everything from carpets, engineered wood, laminates, luxury vinyl planks, shower enclosures, backsplashes, tile floors, and ceramic tile cleaning.
They also have their own installers and design consultants, offering everything from furniture removal and carpet cleaning to re-stretching services, repairs, and subfloor repair. All quotes on their flooring options are free.
“Our goal is to take care of people, ask the right questions, and show them the best products to meet their needs,” Natalie said. “We still have all the standard stuff we’ve had for years, and we continue to bring in the latest and greatest products on the market. This is what we do, after all, and it’s why we still have loyal customers who have been with us for 30, 40, and 50 years.”
She added, “Business is good. We work hard, and we’re here to stay.”
When it comes to finally giving your home the flooring upgrade it’s needed after all these years, you want to see a specialist. The internet can tell you a lot and give you countless options in and around Denton County. But it’s not personable, and rarely will you find a family-owned and operated company that prides itself on doing business the old-fashioned way.
Smitty’s Floor Covering is one of the last vestiges of what a family business should be, and it’s time to visit them.
“This has been my whole life, and we love it,” Natalie said.
