Where/why did you get your pet? We adopted Denver from the Denton Animal Shelter when he was less than a year old. We had a bloodhound, and he needed a playmate!
Is there a story behind its name? When we adopted Denver, he was solid black and when he slept, he curled into a small ball. He resembled a little lump of coal, so we named him Denver, to mimic Colorado’s black coal. His name has also transpired into a Denver Bronco because he gets very excited about breakfast and dinner and bucks and jumps like a horse!
Anything special or unusual about them (talents/quirks)? He is very shy to new people and often resembles a statue when new people come around. Although when you bust out the treats, he’s your bestie!
What do you like best about your pet? He is an extremely loyal dog; he is always by our side. He loves to go on walks in the park and when he runs he gets a helicopter tail.
Any funny stories? When we get home, he gets very excited to see us and his ears go back, and he shows all his teeth for a big goober smile! We also love it when he runs, he gets what we call a ‘helicopter tail’ instead of just wagging, it goes in a full circle above his body! We always giggle about it!
How spoiled is your pet? He doesn’t know any other way of life!
What else should we know about your pet and/or how your pet has enriched your home/family? Denver has always been a steady and obedient dog, he’s overcome some big health hurdles in his eleven years and always seems very grateful for his life, which makes us so grateful to have him as part of our family.
