Where/why did you get your pet?
We got Queso from an animal shelter as a baby. We had just moved and promised the kids a cat. We picked her out by handing the kittens to our 2 year old to see how they would react. Queso just let her hold her without scratching or fighting. She carried her around for 5 minutes and we said that is definitely our cat. Best decision – she is a great kitty.
We got Luna a couple years after our family dog passed away from old age. We saved her from an animal shelter that had her whole litter that was found. She actually came with the name Avery (but that is our daughters name), and she kept coming to play with us out of the litter so she kind of picked our family.
Is there a story behind its name?
We love queso and she was orange so that was easy! Luna was more difficult because we all wanted something different. We finally agreed as a family on Luna and then later found out it’s the most popular dog name.
Anything special or unusual about them ?
Queso is a very personable kitty. She loves when people come over and will interact with them. One time we had the delivery guy leave a note on the door saying we have an awesome cat because she was playing through the window. She loves to hold your hand. If she sits by you, she will put her paw in your lap no matter what.
Luna is supposed to love water but absolutely hates it. She will not get in the pool, but will circle the entire time we are swimming to keep us safe.
What do you like best about your pet?
They are both so good with kids. They are playful and sweet with not only our kids, but all kids. Even the cat which is not normal.
Any funny stories?
Luna is so happy with her new back yard. She is on the squirrel hunt – so much that we have to actually make her come inside and lay down so she doesn’t exhaust herself. It’s over 100 degrees outside and she will not stop running back and forth after them.
Queso is our youngest child’s pal. One day Skylar was trying to play Doc McStuffins with Queso and was putting Band-Aids on her and Queso just laid there and let her, but kept looking at us like, “Why are we doing this?”
How spoiled is your pet?
They are both pretty spoiled
What else should we know about your pet and/or how your pet has enriched your home/family?
They are finally starting to get along after 4 years. Queso is not a fan of Luna, but she puts up with her much better than she used too. Luna tries to play with Queso any chance she gets, but most of the time Queso with jump back and run to the closet with a mad kitty face.
