Bargains for Good

The Women’s Guild of St. Christopher by the River Episcopal Church will hold its semi-annual Fall one-day sale on September 25, 2026 at the Church.

The sale will be at the church at 7601 Old Mill Road from 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM. From 8:00 to 9:00 AM only, there is a $10 fee to enter.
The sale is held to raise funds for charities and organizations throughout the Cleveland
Community.
The sale will include Men’s, Women’s and Children’s Clothes, Furniture, Seasonal Decorations,
Fabric, Decorative Pillows, Sports Equipment, Toys, a Boutique filled with antiques and unique
items and for the first time a Fashion Boutique! The Fashion Boutique will feature name brand
and designer clothes and accessories at unbelievable savings. Unlike most sales of its kind, all
items are examined for wear and soil and are cleaned to be ready for the sale.
Donations of gently used items are accepted in the brown containers located at the fire lane
driveway next to the church year-round.
A small group of devoted women members created and ran the first sale in the 1950s. St.
Christophers was one of the first churches to run a sale of this kind. It was an instant success
and it became a semi-annual event for the Church. The sale has raised thousands for the
Cleveland Community.
Over 80% of the funds raised are given to numerous local charities and organizations within the
Cleveland area that are devoted to helping families. Some of the Recipients include: City
Mission, Greater Cleveland Food Bank, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church Cleveland, Hospice of the
Western Reserve, Meals on Wheels, WomenSafe Inc, Heifer-Send A Girl to School, Seeds of
Literacy, Teen Challenge of Cleveland and Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry. All unsold items are
donated to other local charities.
In addition to funds given to the Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry, the Church also provides
and/or serves lunch at the Shelter every other month and helps to provide bus passes for the
residents. In the past, it supported a large-scale coat and winter wear donation drive and the
opening of an ‘affordable home’ for those transitioning out of homelessness. St. Christophers
Women’s Guild also donates gifts for men, women and children yearly to St. Lukes Episcopal
Church at Christmas time.
This year’s Sale is chaired by Sue Marston and Carolyn Miscko.
