East Bullitt Animal Clinic: Compassionate Care, Community Commitment, and Trust
For more than 15 years, our clinic has provided compassionate veterinary care, meaningful community partnerships, and personalized support for pets and the families who love them.
Heather Bucky, Office Manager
Since opening its doors in 2010, our clinic has remained committed to one simple mission: providing compassionate, high-quality veterinary care while treating every pet like family. Over the years, the practice has become a trusted resource for pet owners throughout the community by offering personalized care, building lasting relationships, and creating a welcoming environment where both pets and their families feel supported.
From dogs and cats to pocket pets and exotic animals, the clinic cares for a wide variety of patients with a focus on preventive medicine, client education, and long-term wellness. Whether a family is bringing in a new puppy for vaccinations, seeking treatment for a sick pet, or navigating end-of-life care, the clinic’s team works to make every experience as compassionate and stress-free as possible.
A large part of that welcoming atmosphere comes from Practice Manager Heather, who has been with the clinic for 13 years. Her dedication to client relationships and patient care has helped shape the culture of the practice.
“Heather is passionate about creating a warm and supportive environment for every client who walks through our doors,” the clinic shared. “She truly cares about making sure every patient receives exceptional care.”
The clinic also experienced an exciting addition in 2024 with the arrival of Dr. Kennedy. A graduate of the University of Illinois, Dr. Kennedy brings 15 years of experience in both small animal and equine medicine. His knowledge, compassion, and dedication to patient care have already made a significant impact on both the practice and the surrounding community.
In 2025, the clinic proudly entered a new chapter under new ownership. While maintaining the same compassionate foundation the community has trusted for years, the transition also brought renewed energy and a fresh focus on personalized medicine and comprehensive patient care.
Along with the ownership transition came an evolution in the clinic’s approach. Previously focused primarily on surgery, the practice shifted to a more balanced surgery-and-medicine schedule. This change allowed the team to spend more time building relationships with patients and clients while providing long-term wellness care in addition to surgical services.
“While change always brings challenges, this transition allowed us to focus even more on comprehensive care and deeper client relationships,” the clinic shared. “The growth we’ve experienced and the trust we continue to receive from our community have been incredibly rewarding.”
Today, the clinic offers a full range of veterinary services for pets at every life stage. Services include wellness exams, preventive care, vaccinations, diagnostics, surgery, dental care, nutritional counseling, parasite prevention, same-day sick appointments, and in-home euthanasia services.
One of the clinic’s defining features is its commitment to longer appointment times. Every patient receives a dedicated 30-minute appointment, allowing veterinarians and staff to thoroughly examine pets, discuss concerns with owners, and ensure no questions go unanswered.
In an industry where rushed appointments can sometimes leave pet owners feeling overwhelmed, the clinic believes time and communication are essential to delivering exceptional care.
“We understand how stressful it can be when a pet is sick, and we do our best to provide timely, compassionate care when families need it most.”
The clinic also prioritizes accessibility by offering same-day sick appointments whenever possible. Staff members understand that unexpected illnesses and emergencies can be stressful, and they strive to provide prompt care and guidance during difficult situations.
Another service that sets the clinic apart is its in-home euthanasia program. Recognizing how emotional end-of-life decisions can be, the clinic offers families the opportunity to say goodbye to their beloved pets in the comfort and familiarity of home.
Beyond patient care, the clinic remains deeply involved in supporting the local community and improving animal welfare throughout the region.
As proud members of the Bullitt County Chamber of Commerce, the team actively supports local initiatives and organizations. The clinic also partners with the Bullitt County Animal Shelter to provide a monthly Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program for community and feral cats.
Through the TNR initiative, cats are humanely trapped, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and treated for fleas and parasites before being safely returned to their colonies. The program helps control the feral cat population while reducing disease transmission and improving the health of community cat populations.
The clinic believes that education and prevention are some of the most important tools in keeping pets healthy. Staff members encourage pet owners to prioritize preventive care through annual wellness exams, vaccinations, parasite prevention, and microchipping.
They also emphasize the importance of responsible pet ownership, including spaying and neutering, keeping pets safely leashed, and creating emergency funds for unexpected veterinary expenses.
At its heart, the clinic’s mission has remained unchanged since 2010: to provide trusted veterinary care with kindness, integrity, and respect.
“We know veterinary medicine can sometimes feel emotional and overwhelming,” the clinic shared. “Our goal is to make every visit as supportive, compassionate, and stress-free as possible for both pets and the people who love them.”
