Meet Oliver: The Pup with a Big Personality
Tommy: Oliver, thanks for sitting down with me today. First things first, tell everyone about your family.
Oliver: I live with Barry, Lesa, and Callen Bostic, and I am pretty sure I run the household. I am an eight-month-old Mini Goldendoodle, and I joined the family after they lost their precious doodle, Cooper, in 2024. The house felt empty after that, especially after long workdays without a dog waiting at the door or joining in on walks. Callen encouraged them to get a puppy, and that is how I found my way here from Riverstone Kennels in Wheelersburg, Ohio.
Tommy: That sounds like perfect timing. Is there a story behind your name?
Oliver: They debated names for weeks and could not agree on a favorite. Somehow, Oliver just fit my spunk, endless curiosity, and high energy. It suits me in a way none of us expected.
Tommy: I have heard you have some big shoes to fill.
Oliver: I was told very early on that I had great big shoes to fill in memory of Cooper. I am not trying to replace him, though. I am busy being my own mischievous self and building quite a following with customers, friends, and family. There are plans for me to become the resident Shoppe Dog and official greeter for Oodles one day, but right now, I still have plenty of puppy energy to work through before prime time.
Tommy: What do they love most about you?
Oliver: They love the late-night cuddles and how I have warmed their hearts and home. I may also be their ticket back to better health since I am helping them restart their walking routines. For now, it is my speedy zooms that keep them on their toes. At night, I sit and watch television with them and tilt my head from side to side like I completely understand what is happening.
Tommy: I heard Christmas was interesting this year.
Oliver: Cooper loved Christmas gifts and wrapping paper. I also love wrapping paper, ribbons, and the tiniest pieces of anything I can find. Most gift wrapping had to happen above my eye level because I consider paper, ribbons, socks, and pant legs to be fair game. I am quick, and they admit I am nearly impossible to catch.
Tommy: Be honest, how spoiled are you?
Oliver: I have the run of the house, more toys than necessary, and a bed in every room. Still, I prefer a lap over any bed. So you decide how spoiled that makes me.
Tommy: Final thoughts?
Oliver: They were not trying to replace a beloved dog, and I just showed up with my sweet, lovable personality and reminded them they still had plenty of love to give. I think I am growing into those big shoes just fine.
