Fueling Family, Homes & Community

Mike Todd and Texas Propane continue a family legacy built on service, safety, and small-town values.

For Mike Todd, propane is more than a business — it is a family tradition rooted in hard work, integrity, and community connection. As the owner of Texas Propane, Mike proudly carries forward the company his father, Gordon Todd, founded in 1984 with “work ethic, grit, and fierce determination.”
Born and raised in Montana, Mike spent four years building homes before relocating to Texas in 1996 to join the family business. Today, nearly three decades later, Texas Propane has grown into a trusted name across Central Texas while still maintaining the personal touch of a family-owned company. Mike and his wife, Tish, recently celebrated 25 years of marriage, and the family legacy continues with their son Curtis joining the company in 2023 alongside his fiancée Katie and their two daughters, Conley and Colbie.
Texas Propane provides full residential and commercial propane services, including above-ground and underground tank installation, propane piping, regulators, appliance conversions, and complete home standby generator installations as a Certified Generac dealer. The company also performs comprehensive safety system checks to help keep families protected and informed.
What truly sets Texas Propane apart is its commitment to customer service and relationships. Unlike many competitors that have sold to larger corporations or private equity firms, Texas Propane remains independently owned and operated. Customers can expect to speak with a real person when they call, receive attentive service, and work with a team that prioritizes education and safety just as much as installation and delivery.
The company also invests heavily in quality — from American-made propane tanks and equipment to updated service trucks, advanced software systems, and cellular tank monitoring technology that helps ensure uninterrupted propane supply.
Beyond business, Texas Propane stays deeply connected to the community. The company supports local youth sports programs, FFA students, volunteer fire departments, and maintains memberships with organizations including the Greater Brazos Valley Builders Association, the BCS Chamber of Commerce, the National Propane Gas Association, and the Texas Propane Gas Association.
Like many businesses, Texas Propane has faced challenges ranging from rising fuel and equipment costs to increasing insurance and healthcare expenses. However, operating debt-free has allowed the company to remain stable and continue offering competitive pricing while sustaining steady growth throughout the Bryan-College Station area.
Looking ahead, Mike says Texas Propane is committed to staying family-owned and continuing to expand throughout Central Texas while preserving the values the company was founded on over 40 years ago.
Mike also encourages residents to fully understand their propane systems and work with providers who prioritize education and safety.
“It is imperative that you understand what propane smells like, how to shut off your tank in an emergency, and how to operate your propane system and appliances,” Mike shares. “If you are unsure of these processes, you can schedule your propane provider to educate you.”
At the heart of Texas Propane’s mission is a simple promise: to provide safe, reliable, cost-effective propane service while treating customers like neighbors — because to Mike Todd and his family, that is exactly what they are.
