Meet Rueben

A stray kitten, a sandwich, and a happy ending.

Hi, you can call me Rueben or Ruby Roo. I'm a handsome male cat with shiny black fur and bright yellow eyes. I have a playful personality yet cautious at all times due to my humble alley cat beginnings.

Before I found my forever home with my humans Tyler & Jazz, I was living outside with my mom and four siblings near the McAlister's Deli in Edmond. Jazz at the time worked at McAlister's and along with the other employees they looked out for us and always made sure we had food. Then a kind woman named Carrie, with help from the McAlister's employees, rescued all of us and took us to a shelter where we were cleaned up, vaccinated, and fixed. One by one, my brothers and sisters all found loving homes—many with the very employees who had been caring for us.

That's when my story got even better.

Since my humans (aka Mom and Dad), Jazz & Tyler, were so close to everything that happened, they got the first pick of the kittens. The moment they saw me, it was love at first sight—and I knew they were my forever family. I was only about a month old when they brought me home.

My grandparents on both sides were pretty excited too. They finally had their very first grandbaby...well, a grandcat anyway! I think I've lived up to the title.

As for my name, it's Reuben—just like the famous sandwich! Since I was found near a deli, Mom and Dad thought it was the perfect name. I have to admit, it's pretty clever.

I spend my days being spoiled, stealing straws and hiding them and keeping a watchful eye out the window. I'm a reminder to  everyone just how lucky a little stray kitten can be when the right family comes along. I may have started life outside a sandwich shop, but now I'm exactly where I belong.
