Chasing the Game, One Goal at a Time
For Isle of Hope resident Braxton Hadwin, soccer has been part of life for nearly as long as he can remember. The 13-year-old seventh grader has called the neighborhood home for almost nine years and says he appreciates both the people and the proximity to the water.
Braxton plays club soccer with Savannah United, lining up on the right or left wing. His journey began at just 4 years old, and what started as a childhood activity quickly grew into a lasting passion. Over the years, the game has become more than competition — it’s a place where friendships and confidence have taken shape.
One of his most meaningful milestones came when he joined his current team. Many of his teammates have been by his side since he was 7, creating a strong sense of continuity and trust. “The coaches have believed in me since the day I joined,” he shared.
Braxton credits much of his growth to dedication and a steady work ethic, balancing school and athletics by simply giving his best effort each day. Along the way, he’s learned the importance of commitment and staying focused on what he loves.
A key influence in his development has been Coach Kevin, who helped shape Braxton’s early competitive experience. More than just a coach, Kevin stood out as a constant supporter who truly cared about his players.
Looking ahead, Braxton has his sights set high, with dreams of one day playing professionally in Major League Soccer. His advice to younger athletes is simple but powerful: “Don’t give up on your dreams because the dreams don’t chase you.”
