A Coastal Casual Retreat on Isle of Hope
For Jane Moore, Isle of Hope has never simply been a neighborhood — it has always been home.
Jane grew up on the island and later raised her daughters there, while her husband, Jim, spent his childhood on St. Simons Island before living at The Landings for nearly two decades. After mutual friends introduced the couple, they quickly realized they shared a love for coastal living and a quieter pace of life.
When Jane discovered an open house on McIntosh Drive in 2014, she immediately felt a connection to the property.
“It had a lot of the things we knew we wanted,” Jane says. “Including a primary bedroom on the main floor, tons of storage, a large kitchen, hardwood floors, tall ceilings, and lots of windows and light.”
Built in 1986 by the Waters family, the home sits on land Jane remembers exploring as a child. Long before the house existed, the wooded lot served as a backdrop for bike rides, makeshift forts, and afternoons spent outdoors with friends.
Today, the Moores describe their home’s aesthetic as “coastal casual,” blending relaxed comfort with spaces designed for gathering family and friends. Cedar shingles, welcoming porches, and a detached three-car garage give the property its distinct character, while the backyard pool — added in 2017 — has become a favorite feature for entertaining and unwinding outdoors.
Inside, the couple opened a wall between the sunroom and great room to create better flow and later renovated both the kitchen and primary bathroom.
Tucked at the end of a quiet street, the home offers exactly what Jane and Jim were searching for: a peaceful retreat rooted in lifelong memories and easy island living.
