Brynn Linton
A Year Filled With Championships
For Isle of Hope resident Brynn Linton, sports have made fifth grade a season to remember.
The 11-year-old, who is entering sixth grade, has lived in the neighborhood for eight years and enjoys everything from boating and swimming to golf cart rides and spotting the baby deer that appear each year.
Brynn stays busy year-round competing in basketball, volleyball, and softball. She plays basketball for Savannah Country Day School and the Fernwood Falcons, volleyball for SCDS, and softball with Chatham County Little League. This year, she was selected to the league's first-ever Girls All-Star team.
Her teams enjoyed an impressive run of success. Brynn helped SCDS capture the SPAL volleyball championship and finish as runner-up in basketball. She also celebrated championships with the Fernwood Falcons and the CCLL Majors softball team.
While balancing academics and athletics can be challenging, Brynn finds a way to make it work. Along the way, she says sports have taught her the importance of teamwork and have introduced her to many supportive friends.
Several mentors have influenced her journey, including her parents, who coached her in softball, her father, who coached basketball, Coach Cutter of the Fernwood Falcons, and Coach Susanne at SCDS.
Inspired by basketball star Raven Johnson and the Indiana Fever, Brynn hopes to continue competing and jokingly says she plans to coach after retiring from the WNBA one day.
Her advice to younger athletes is simple: "Never give up and set small but achievable goals."
