For Stacie Binns Bacon, the home at 33 Island Drive holds far more than 60 years of family history. It represents a connection to Isle of Hope that stretches back more than seven decades.

The Binns family first lived in Grimball Park before Stacie’s parents, Bill and Patsy Binns, built the Island Drive home in 1966. It has remained in the family ever since, accumulating the stories, celebrations, and everyday moments that make a house inseparable from the people who inhabit it.

A traditional ranch at its core, the home has been updated to accommodate a more open, connected way of living. In the kitchen, overhead cabinetry that once divided the room was removed, while an exterior window gave way to a new outdoor space. The former dining room became a butler’s pantry and bar, and the original living room was reimagined as a dining room with ample space for family gatherings.

One material provides a visual thread between past and present: old Savannah gray brick. Used on the home’s exterior, the same brick is exposed in the kitchen and around the den fireplace, carrying a piece of the original architecture indoors.

The changes have allowed the house to adapt without losing sight of what has always mattered most. Over six decades, its rooms have welcomed family reunions, wedding gatherings, celebrations of life, and countless occasions in between.

For Stacie, that history is intertwined with Isle of Hope itself — its river, natural beauty, storied past, neighbors, and generations of memories. At 33 Island Drive, those memories continue to have a place to gather.
