D Bros Baking Co Bringing Sweetness to the Community
Meet the young brothers behind D. Bros Baking Co., Dennis and Darren, two kids turning their love of baking into homemade macarons for local families and events.
What started as baking treats at home slowly turned into something bigger. Through D. Bros Baking Co., the brothers have spent countless hours learning how to master one of the most difficult desserts to make — the macaron. Along the way, they’ve learned patience, teamwork, and the importance of practice.
One thing that makes their baking unique is their focus on keeping things simple and natural. Instead of using artificial flavorings or heavily processed ingredients, they prefer working with real ingredients and making everything by hand. It may make the process more challenging, but they believe it gives their macarons a more homemade and authentic feel.
We sat down with the brothers to talk about how they got started, what they enjoy most about baking, and where they hope their business goes in the future.
Q: How did you first become interested in baking?
A: “Our parents didn’t really like to buy factory-produced treats,so we started making them ourselves. That helped us become good bakers. We also love making breakfast on weekends, and that made us enjoy baking even more.”
Q: Why did you decide to focus on macarons?
A: “Macarons were delicious, but they were also really difficult to make. When we first started trying, we thought if we could actually master them, it would mean we were great bakers.”
Q: What do you enjoy most about baking?
A: “We get to share the time together as brothers. Baking helps us relax, have fun, and do something special together.”
Q: How do you balance school, sports, and running a bakery?
A: “Our parents help us a lot with scheduling. We always do homework first, then sports, and on weekends we try to squeeze in baking time.”
Q: What is the name of your bakery, and how did you choose it?
A: “Our bakery is called D. Bros Baking Co. because both of our names start with D, and we’re brothers.”
Q: What makes your macarons special?
A: “They’re homemade, carefully crafted, and made with patience. Because macarons are so tricky, every successful batch takes practice and dedication. We put a lot of effort into making them look beautiful and taste delicious, which makes them feel extra special.”
Q: Why is using natural ingredients important to you?
A: “We do not use artificial flavorings or a bunch of chemical ingredients. We like using real ingredients because they taste better and feel more homemade.”
Q: What flavors are your favorites to make?
A: “Pistachio, lemon, and chocolate.”
Q: What do you hope customers feel when they receive your treats?
A: “We want them to feel happy and excited.”
Q: How do you hope your bakery helps make summers and holidays more special for people?
A: “If people use our macarons as gifts for others, that would be awesome.”
Q: How can local organizations or families partner with you for fundraisers?
A: “It’s simple — just send us a message, and we’ll be ready.”
Q: What have you learned about business so far?
A: “It’s time-consuming, fun, and exciting. We’ve learned that practice is really important if you want things to be perfect.”
Q: What has been the biggest challenge?
A: “Making the macaron shells perfect and keeping them from cracking. Sometimes it feels like if you even look at them the wrong way, they crack themselves. It’s basically a very delicate chemical process.”
Q: What has been the most exciting part?
A: “Baking the perfect batch and getting compliments from people.”
Q: What advice would you give other kids who want to start a business?
A: “Never give up, even if something looks like it’s not going to work.”
Q: What are your biggest dreams for your bakery?
A: “We want to be well-known in the community, and it would be amazing if people ordered from us instead of buying from a store.”
Q: How has your family helped you build this business?
A: “They’ve helped us every step of the way. They buy ingredients, help with scheduling, and drive us where we need to go.”
Q: What do you want your community to know about your business?
A: “We are reliable. Our macarons taste delicious. We’re just two brothers who love to bake.”
