Laundry Love
A few weeks ago, through my church, Hope Lutheran, I had the opportunity to volunteer for Laundry Love. It was a rewarding experience and reminded me of why I enjoy volunteering my time. Our church provided and served a meal for the individuals and families on-site, along with giving donations of laundry baskets and quarters. If you have the opportunity to be kind, do it.
So what is Laundry Love? It’s a non-profit organization that exists to meet the needs of those in our community who are low income, experiencing homelessness, unemployed, elderly, or need a hand up in a difficult time by providing quarters through our Laundry Love events at a local laundromat. Clean laundry is one of our most basic needs, and the Laundry Love exists to help alleviate those issues that poor health and hygiene place on needing members of our community.
How does it work? Laundry Love hosts 3 ½ hour events at a local laundromat. Details of upcoming events can be found on their Facebook page or website laundrylove.org. Upon arriving, quarters, soaps, and dryer sheets are provided for our neighbors.
How do I help? Individuals, groups, families, and friends are all welcome to volunteer at the local laundry events. Donations of liquid laundry soap and dryer sheets are always welcome, along with donations of any amount. Laundry Love is 501C3, and your donations are tax-deductible.
