The Bourbon Gift Guide
Whether you like to plan ahead on gift-giving or wait until the last minute, there are plenty of bourbon-related gifts for the bourbon lovers on your list. Remember, you don’t need to be a bourbon expert to give a meaningful bourbon gift your friends or family will appreciate. All you really need to know is who you’re shopping for. This breakdown by budget and by person does all the work for you.
For the Curious Bourbon Beginner ($20 - $40)
This particular person doesn’t need a unicorn bottle. Think in terms of approachable, practical and well-made. It could be a simple cocktail guide or cookbook or one about bourbon history. Check out Heather Wibbels’ book Bourbon Is My Comfort Food or Bourbon Justice by Brian Haara. Stop by Spark! and Lullubelles in Norton Commons for home bar essentials like glassware, coasters, and essential tools.
For the Everyday Sipper ($40 - $75)
This person already has a favorite and still likes to try something new. Look for bottles they have never mentioned before; next, check out the reviews and start to narrow down possible gift contenders. If selecting a bottle is too challenging, look into personalized whiskey glasses in a nice wooden box.
For the Serious Collector ($75 +)
Here’s what we know about serious bourbon collectors: they most likely already have what is easy to find. Look for the phrases “limited release” or “store pick,” or purchase a bottle from a distillery you do not see represented on their home bar or bourbon shelf. Reach out to Phil Talks Whiskey on X, Instagram, or Facebook and ask him for his top three recommendations to really wow someone on your list.
If your heart is leading you to think outside the box (or bottle) for gifts, there are plenty of unique bourbon experiences in Kentucky to consider. If you’re looking for a gift that’s an event, mark your December calendar for one of our four holiday teas - December 5th, 12th, 19th, and 20th. They are all different themes, so you may want to come to all four. It’s a full-service tea event with seasonal charm. Our Spirits & Souvenir Shop will be open, and I’ll help you handpick the perfect gifts. Visit www.oxmoorbourbon.com for more details.
