September has a way of bringing renewed energy. As students return to the classroom, Friday night lights illuminate the West Texas sky, and families settle into one of the busiest –and most enjoyable –times of the year.  

We wish every student, educator, and family a successful school year as our children embrace new teachers, new friendships, and new opportunities.  A little extra patience also goes a long way this time of year– please remember to slow down and watch for students driving, walking or biking through the neighborhood.  

Here in Lubbock, September also marks the beginning of a season filled with local traditions.  Texas Tech football and high school rivalries along with community celebrations all bring us together while showcasing the spirit that makes our city such a wonderful place to call home.
