Daisy and Rosie in Placitas
Small Dogs, Big Hearts
Hi there, neighbors! We’re Rosie Ru and Daisy Ru, the four‑legged chaos coordinators of Camino de las Huertas. We may be small. one of us curly, one of us long and low, but we’ve got big personalities and an even bigger fan club. Between belly rub appointments, treat negotiations, and backyard security patrols, life in Placitas keeps us very busy.
I’m Rosie Ru, a three‑year‑old Miniature Poodle and proud big sister. As Mom says, I’m the “Velcro baby” of the household, where she goes, I go. I love fetch, tug‑of‑war, and keeping a careful inventory of all squeaky toys located within a twenty‑foot radius. I can go from lightning‑bolt energy to serene snuggle mode in seconds. My only enemies are loud noises and anyone getting too close to my snack stash.
And then there’s Daisy Ru, my partner‑in‑crime, a Mini Long‑Haired Dachshund shaped like a toasted marshmallow with fur as soft as a secret. Daisy is all sunshine, sass, and strategic napping. She’s a charming blend of butterball and bossy boots: part cuddle bug, part tiny tornado. Her hobbies include sunbathing dramatically, rolling over for applause, and pretending the vacuum cleaner is an ancient monster sent to ruin her day.
I joined the family first, right when Mom’s heart had an empty spot that only a curly ball of energy like me could fill. A little while later, Daisy showed up, nose first, wagging nonstop. Mom wasn’t sure how I’d handle a little sister, but Daisy and I took one look at each other, sniffed once, and decided we’d take over the house together. Instant alliance. We’ve been double trouble ever since.
We’ve had some, let’s say, misunderstandings over what’s considered “allowed.” Digging? We call it landscaping. Dirt on the tile? Modern art. That time we sampled the mail? Quality control. But let’s be honest: four puppy eyes and synchronized tail wags can undo any lecture in record time.
Every day in Placitas is an adventure. We love morning walks on the dusty trails, meeting friendly neighbors, and chasing invisible things that only we can see. When we’re not on duty as trail‑scouts, you’ll find us in our favorite fluffy bed by the patio, Rosie on lookout, Daisy supervising the sunshine.
If you asked what we’re most grateful for, we’d both bark the same answer at once: treats, toys, belly rubs, and Mom. She’s our favorite human, even if she insists on that whole “bath time” nonsense.
So next time you spot two dogs trotting proudly in matching harnesses down the trail, one fluffy, one long, both fabulous, that’s us, Rosie Ru and Daisy Ru, living our best doggie lives in the heart of Placitas.
