Hi neighbors! Maria here, resident queen and seven year old American Curl. Yes, my human, Emily, brought me all the way from Japan! She spotted me through a pet store window and visited me every single day for a week until her family got me for her as a birthday gift. I am absolute royalty around here. Between my unique curled ears, my non stop purr machine, and the plush belly I show off when I feel safe, I know I am cute. I love cool floors, watching birds and bugs, Churu treats, and running fast (just do not ask me to jump high). My favorite daily ritual is dinner. The second my humans sit down to eat, I trot over to my own bowls to chow down right alongside them!

Sharing the bed with me is Mr. Clark, a twelve or thirteen year old Domestic Short Hair. He is Emily’s 40th foster cat since 2020 through Felines and Friends in Santa Fe, a fantastic group that rehabilitates cats with medical or behavioral needs. Poor Mr. Clark had a rough journey, being adopted and returned to the shelter multiple times before landing here two or three months ago. He is most grateful for a stable home life without constant moving, and guess what? He is officially up for adoption! He would do best in a calm, loving home with someone who can give him his medical care and all the affection he deserves.

Sure, Mr. Clark acts like a grumpy old man at first, but once he knows you, he transforms into a total snuggle bug! He is super talkative and actually meows like a quacking duck. He is also a brave boy who takes his twice daily insulin injections like a champ as long as tasty treats follow. His biggest fear is his human leaving, so his absolute favorite moment is getting showered with love when we come home.

Since we are strictly indoor cats, we have zero runaway drama to report. Mr. Clark prefers humans over other animals, but he tolerates me, and I usually prefer playing with smaller kittens anyway (though I do occasionally assert my dominance over larger ones!).
