For the Low family, home is about more than a house; it is about togetherness, laughter, and making memories across generations.

 

Nick and Erin Low, along with their children Greyson (11) and Laura (8), have called Highland Meadows home since 2019. Sharing their home on Castaway Drive are Erin’s mother, Lynette, and her grandmother, lovingly known as Grandma Borgie, creating a truly special multigenerational household.

 

The family originally purchased their home in 2018 with Erin’s parents, Lynette and Al Ottinger. While the family experienced the loss of Erin’s father in 2023, his memory continues to be an important part of their story.

 

Today, their home remains full of love, activity, and a few furry companions, puppies Gizmo and Lizzy. “We truly have 102 reasons to be thankful,” Erin shared, speaking of Grandma Borgie, who celebrated her 102nd birthday on July 27th!

 

Grandma Borgie remains an active and beloved part of family life. She enjoys watching The Price Is Right, cuddling with the puppies, reading with her great-grandchildren, and even enjoying the occasional glass of wine. She is also known for her memorable sayings: “Here’s to mud in your eye!” and an enthusiastic “Wheeeeee!”

 

The Lows stay busy with simple moments that have become family traditions. They enjoy card games, neighborhood walks, swimming, movie nights, and spending time in their newest favorite gathering place: their own backyard. “Our most recent favorite place is our backyard, playing with the puppies,” Erin said. Another favorite tradition happens at Christmas when they make Nana Nettie’s (Erin’s mom’s) famous candy cookies; the kids look forward to baking them with her every year.

 

Friday nights are reserved for another tradition the family looks forward to each week: trying a new restaurant together. “We go out to a new place as a family every Friday, and we take turns choosing,” they shared. Some current favorites include Pizza Vino, Kujira Ramen, Sushi Jooa, and Mash Lab, while homemade chicken tortilla soup remains the family’s favorite comfort meal at home.

 

Nick and Erin each brought their own backgrounds and experiences to Colorado. Erin grew up in Grand Forks, North Dakota, while Nick is originally from Maple Grove, Minnesota.

 

Erin earned dual degrees in Child Development and Elementary Education from North Dakota State University, later adding a master’s degree in special education from the University of North Dakota. She now works at Bamford Elementary Preschool. Nick earned his geology degree from North Dakota State University and currently works with State Farm Insurance.

 

Their children are equally involved in school and community activities. Laura participates in Bamford’s cheer and yoga programs, while Greyson enjoys robotics. Both children also take part in running club.

 

When it comes to relaxing, the family keeps it simple. “We play with our puppies, go on walks, and watch movies,” they said. They also love summer trips to the lake in Minnesota to visit Nick’s parents and visits to see friends in North Dakota, returning each year to places that hold special memories.

 

After several years in Highland Meadows, the family says their favorite part of the neighborhood is its welcoming atmosphere and proximity to parks and schools. “It’s a great, safe neighborhood,” Erin shared.

 

At the center of everything is a family value that guides their daily lives: Treat others as you want to be treated. “We just strive to be good people,” they said.

 

With six family members under one roof, two playful puppies, countless traditions, and a milestone birthday on the horizon, the Low family continues to create a home filled with gratitude, connection, and plenty of reasons to celebrate.
