A Home Built for Gathering
Sandra Lambert and Andy Wong didn't just build a house in Riverlights - they built a life around it.
After spending a year in Riverlights while their home was under construction, Sandra Lambert and Andy Wong moved into their dream home twenty months ago, right on schedule for a milestone they'd set their sights on from the beginning: Sandra's October 2024 birthday. For this couple, that kind of intentionality runs through every room.
Their custom AR Homes build is a coastal modern farmhouse that draws directly from its surroundings: the river, the marsh, the tree canopy, and the sunsets that light up the sky over the water. Inside, soft sea foam greens, muted aquas, and warm natural woods mirror the landscape just beyond the windows. Serene and calming, the couple calls it their place of peace, and after spending any time here, it's easy to understand why.
But this is no quiet retreat meant for two. From the start, Sandra and Andy designed the home to draw people in. High vaulted ceilings and oversized picture windows give the space a natural openness, while an array of outdoor living areas, including a dock and gazebo, a balcony, a four-season room, a gas fire pit patio, and a front porch swing, create effortless settings for gathering at any time of day or season. As construction unfolded and the couple gained a clearer picture of what their site could offer, they added more windows and the balcony, each change a response to the views opening up around them.
The kitchen is where it all comes together. A distinctive backsplash anchors the space and gives it character. With Sandra’s love and passion for cooking, the kitchen was designed to be more than just a place for preparing meals. It’s a gathering space centered around the people seated at the island and the conversations that continue long after the meal has ended. The home has already hosted Thanksgiving weekend gatherings, spontaneous neighbor get-togethers, and a memorable paella-making evening with out-of-town guests.
Commissioned artwork created specifically for this home and its coastal setting adds a final layer of meaning, art that doesn't just decorate the walls but belongs to this particular place on the North Carolina coast.
Sandra & Andy’s advice to neighbors looking to do the same: "Create spaces that reflect how you truly live and what brings you joy. Take inspiration from your surroundings and choose features that feel authentic to your home rather than following trends."
On Dauntless Lane, those words aren't just advice. They're the blueprint.
