A Splash of Summer
Families gathered at Lake Salisbury Beach to celebrate the start of summer!
Neighbors officially kicked off summer with the annual "Slide Into Summer" celebration, gathering at Lake Salisbury Beach for an evening filled with music, swimming, games, great food, and community fellowship. The event offered families the perfect opportunity to reconnect with old friends, meet new neighbors, and celebrate the beginning of another fun-filled summer season.
Families gathered to celebrate as children raced down the Slip 'N Slide, created art projects, played cornhole and beach games, and splashed in the lake under the watchful eye of lifeguards. Adults relaxed under shade tents while visiting with friends and enjoying complimentary lemonade and snacks provided by the Lake Salisbury Association. Laughter echoed across the beach as families made the most of a warm summer evening together.
Local entertainment added to the festive atmosphere, with live music from Salisbury's own Kevin Kelley Band providing the soundtrack for the evening. Guests also enjoyed handcrafted wood-fired pizzas from Happy Place Mobile Pizza and refreshing treats from King of Pops – Midlothian, including a patriotic red, white, and blue popsicle made available through the generosity of neighbor George Yesbeck and Virginia Exterior Products.
Although summer showers brought the event to an early close, the celebration highlighted what makes the Salisbury community so special—a willingness to come together, enjoy one another's company, and make the most of every opportunity to connect.
"To everyone who made it out, THANKS for coming and for braving the weather," expressed neighbor and organizer Katherine Layton.
Fortunately, summer fun at Lake Salisbury is just getting started. The "Slide Into Summer" event served as the first in a series of Sunday evening gatherings planned throughout the season, giving residents several more opportunities to enjoy the lake and spend time with friends and neighbors throughout the summer months.
Sometimes the best memories aren't made during perfect weather—they're made when neighbors come together, enjoy the moment, and look forward to the next gathering.
