Finding Joy in Simple Getaways

A nearby escape, simple moments, and uninterrupted family time have made Broken Bow a favorite getaway for the Porto family.

For Ashley Porto and her family, travel this year has not been about big trips or faraway destinations. Between three kids and busy sports schedules, life stays full, so their family has focused on squeezing in small getaways whenever they can.

One place they love is Broken Bow.

What started as a quick escape has turned into a favorite family tradition. Surrounded by trees, outdoor spaces, and slower-paced days, Broken Bow has given the Porto family a chance to unplug and spend quality time together away from their normal routines.

“Our travels this year haven’t been anything grand,” Ashley shared, “but they’ve sure been special.”

One of their favorite trips was spending Easter there with their entire family. From evenings around the fire roasting marshmallows to swimming at night and watching the kids play outside, the trip was filled with simple moments they will always remember.

Their cabin had something for everyone, including a pool, a sports court, and plenty of room to gather together. But for Ashley, the best part was simply having uninterrupted time as a family.

Like many families in the neighborhood, the Portos are balancing sports, school, and packed calendars. Broken Bow offered the perfect nearby getaway without the stress of airports or complicated travel plans.

For the Porto family, these trips have been a reminder that some of the best memories come from slowing down, being together, and enjoying the simple moments.
