America 250: The Celebration Continues

This November, Edinburgh will come together once again to honor our Veterans at the 3rd Annual Bear's Best Veterans Charity Golf Classic.

Throughout July, our community joined millions of Americans in celebrating our nation's 250th birthday. From fireworks and parades to neighborhood gatherings, we reflected on the freedoms we enjoy and the history that has shaped our country. As those celebrations come to a close, we have another opportunity to honor the men and women who have helped protect those freedoms.

This November, the Bear's Best Veterans Charity Golf Classic returns on Monday, November 2, 2026, for its third year, bringing together Veterans, neighbors, local businesses, and supporters for a full day of celebration, camaraderie, gratitude, and service. What began as "a little golf outing" has grown into one of Edinburgh's most meaningful traditions, honoring those who have served our country while raising funds for the Georgia Purple Heart Association.

The day begins with a moving Opening Ceremony featuring the playing of Taps, the National Anthem performed by Edinburgh's own Mia Ramos, and a spectacular parachute landing onto the golf course. This year's jump is especially meaningful as Bear's Best Assistant Golf Professional Marty Topper will make his first tandem jump alongside a team of military paratroopers in honor of Edinburgh resident Colonel Vince Apruzzese Sr. (Ret.).

The jump itself is inspired by Colonel Vince Apruzzese Sr. (Ret.), who recently celebrated his 90th birthday. During his distinguished Army career, he completed 72 parachute jumps, making this tribute a fitting way to honor his legacy of service as he wraps up a remarkable year of milestone celebrations.

Adding to the excitement, FOX 5 Atlanta's own Paul Milliken will return to Bear's Best with live coverage of the event, helping share the stories of our Veterans and this special day of celebration with viewers across metro Atlanta.

The celebration continues throughout the day with breakfast provided by Chick-fil-A and Krispy Kreme, hot dogs grilled at the halfway house, Boy Scouts and NGHS JROTC cadets greeting and assisting our Veterans, and a delicious prime rib dinner courtesy of Bear's Best to conclude the day. Every detail is thoughtfully planned to ensure our Veterans know just how much they are appreciated.

One of the most important goals of this tournament remains unchanged: every Veteran who participates plays for free.

For just $100, you can sponsor a Veteran golfer and ensure they enjoy this special day at no cost. You can also become a tournament sponsor and help us continue this meaningful tradition.

We are also seeking donations for our silent auction and raffle. Gift cards, vacation stays, event tickets, artwork, unique experiences, services, themed baskets, and other donated items all help us raise additional funds for the Georgia Purple Heart Association. If you have an item or experience you would like to donate, please contact me at heather.kohberger@n2co.com.
