Meet Tigger!
The Bouncy, Ball-Chasing, Snuggle-Loving Pup
If you’ve ever met Stroll Tanglewood’s editor, Cyndi, you know she loves a good story—and the one about her family’s four-legged friend is worth sharing.
The Johnson crew welcomed their current furry family member, Tigger, in August of 2023 after rescuing him from the Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League in West Beach, FL. Officially, he’s an 8.5-year-old Boxer mix, but in reality, he’s also “Moose,” “Mr. Moose,” “Moose-Goose,” and occasionally “Potato.” (Don’t worry—he answers to all of them!)
Before Tigger came bouncing into their lives, the family shared 14 wonderful years with their beloved Black Lab, Winnie, who crossed the Rainbow Bridge in 2022. It took time for Cyndi and Trey to feel that they were ready to open their hearts again, but they knew when the moment came, they’d adopt from a shelter.
One day, Cyndi’s search led her to Tigger’s profile—and it was love at first bounce. Their two youngest sons, Caperton (13) and Spencer (8), met him and were instantly smitten. The very next day, while the boys were at school, Cyndi stocked up on doggie necessities and headed straight back to the shelter to bring Tigger home. The staff was thrilled—older dogs like Tigger are often overlooked—but Cyndi knew he was the perfect fit.
When the boys got home, they found their big brother, Allen (22), hanging out with their new furry sibling. It’s safe to say Tigger’s arrival was met with pure joy.
Since then, he’s kept the family on their toes. While Tigger isn’t much for mingling with other dogs, he is absolutely obsessed with tennis balls and will happily play fetch 24/7 if given the chance. Evenings are reserved for snuggles—preferably curled up in Trey’s lap like a lapdog who just happens to be… not so lap-sized. And no matter the day, you’ll spot him proudly sporting his LSU Tigers collar—because even a dog can have team spirit!
Clever, stubborn, protective, and downright adorable, Tigger has become an irreplaceable part of the family—and the kind of dog who proves that sometimes the best things in life come with four paws, a wagging tail, and a lot of bounce.
