Wyatt Is at the Heart of the Chase Home
Life at Liz and Dean Chase’s Tierra Verde home is anything but quiet, but right at the center of all the motion, noise, and laughter is Wyatt, their lovable rescue dog.
“It’s like a circus,” Liz laughs. “Controlled chaos. And Dean now refers to himself as Noah.”
Wyatt fits that description perfectly. Easygoing, affectionate, and endlessly curious, he is the kind of dog who somehow manages to be both a participant in the chaos and the calm within it. Whether he is padding from room to room to check on everyone or inserting himself into whatever is happening, Wyatt is always part of the action.
He is also something of a social coordinator among the household’s more unusual residents. Wyatt has a habit of licking Virgil, the family’s hairless guinea pig, an act that never fails to set off a chain reaction. Virgil squeaks, Josie the cockatiel starts chirping, and suddenly the whole house feels like it is buzzing.
“One sets off the other,” Liz says with a grin.
And Wyatt just stands there, tail wagging, as if he orchestrated the whole thing.
Despite the lively environment, there is a sweetness to the way Wyatt interacts with everyone around him. He is gentle with the smaller animals, patient with the noise, and always ready to offer affection. In a house full of creatures that squeak, chirp, and swim, Wyatt brings a steady, grounding presence. He never demands attention, but he always earns it.
